No doubt a blood chilling account - bringing to light the scale and planning
behind such an operation -- about 1,000 people died. I wonder what planning
goes behind the 10,000 kiled inAssam and 200,000 killed in Nagaland and 10,000
killed in Kashmir. One can only wonder how sophisticated must be the machinery
which manages the global terror network.1,000 mostly muslim dead in Gujarat in
3 days in a reaction to Godhra riots in which a muslim mob torched a train
carrying VHP men. 4,000 Sikhs killed in 1984 in Delhi - when Indian Prime
Minister shot dead by Sikh body guards.
1,000,000 dead in Congo in 100 days and 500,000 dead in Rwanda -and no
question asked. One can only wonder that with incrasing technology we can learn
more and more about such incidents -- but can we take steps to avoid them?
Could we take steps to avoid the killing of 67 unarmed Biharis by ULFA in
Upper Assam last Jan (2007) and 10,000 since 1979.
What does it tell us -- what would the reaction be?
Ofcourse, the ethics of such sting operations in unquestioned -- if someone
does something the fruits of actions will certainly take place -- isn't that
the Hindu Law of Karma?
Those who kill should be prepared to be put to death.

saja has started a discussion page on the ethics of such sting operations, in
the context of government complicity in such crimes.
http://www.sajaforum.org/2007/10/tehelkas-sting.html
On October 25, Tehelka, an Indian investigative magazine, published a special
feature
devoted to the Hindu-Muslim riots* that took place in Gujarat in 2002,
and the state government's active role in fomenting the violence
against Muslims. It refers to the gruesome events, which some have
labeled genocide, as the most important story of our time," and in the
last week it has in fact generated headlines in India and abroad (see
links to coverage at the bottom). However, while the magazines editors
boldly defend their sting journalism, some question the ethics of such
reporting.
