Ram-da,

Court hasn't decided - AICTE has. Indian is Indian -- if IIM or IIT dont like
others having same name - they can change theirs and call themselves
International IT or International IM.

I read and re-read the link you sent. The court seems to think that using the
words "Indian or National" in the name would basically mislead or confuse it
with the IIT or IIM.

When you apply for an assumed name (or a DBA) in the US, you will also have to
go thru what they call a name search to see if your business name conflicts or
is similar to some other name. For instance, you can't have a name like "Disney
Productions".

I am having a tough time understanding how you come to the conclusion as
above. What has the Court's decision got to do with second class citizens or
whatever?

You know, shock-jockeys in the US say some of the most outrageous things -
take a wild guess why they would do so! :)

It seems you cannot have an American Univ or American Christian Univ, etc etc
if such a law was passed in the USA.

Why should Indian be reserved for govt colleges - are only government employee
run colleges and institutions (like AICTE) the only true Indian - or do they
want to extend second class citizen status - overtly, in a legal manner now.
Don't govt employees in general treat others as second class citizens already
-esp private sector.
