Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is planning to expand its operations in
the Northeast region of the country by signing a memorandum of
understanding (MoU) with the government of Assam and IIT-Guwahati. TCS
will establish a TCS Learning Center at the IIT campus of Guwahati. Both
the organizations will also develop R&D activities. The company aims to
recruit faculty members for the center and Science graduates and
engineers from the region.

As part of the deal, TCS inked a three-year lease agreement with the
government of Assam for leasing 50 flats in the national games village
for the trainees of the company. The company is the first Indian IT
service provider operating in the region.

The training facility in the region will be leveraged for conducting
TCS' Initial Learning Program for Engineering graduates and a
seven-month 'Ignite' training program for Science graduates.
