My knowledge on this subject is limited. But it does not take a great deal of knowledge to understand what a dam burst( due to an earthquake ) will do to Assam. Add to it the submergence of forest land, relocation of people, destruction of the already depleting forest resources of the region.
The main beneficiary - Arunachal Govt ( and also the Assam Govt ) support the construction of the dams. Obviously big money is involved or has been promised. Even the people of Arunachal have not risen in revolt against the construction move. Seems that the people have been taught to believe that the dam will bring in richness to the region. Under such a scenario, the anti-dam movement will succeed if only the people of Assam and Arunachal launch a movement together against it. It will hardly succeed when there is opposition from one side only ( Assam ). If there's a online petition, please let us know. Maybe the PM and also our CM will wake up.
