The Sivasagar district administration is launching a novel initiative to turn the district into a tourist hot-spot by implementing host of participatory activities involving the residents of the district. “ Mission Green Sivasagar”, the dream project, is a broad based initiative which will be carried out to promote sustainable development, protect historical legacy, conserve nature, mitigate pollution, propagate afforestation, generate awareness, popularize cleanliness for realizing a sustainable “Green Sivasagar”. Vision & Mission : To sustain an inclusive comprehensive umbrella of activities on the basis of voluntary services which will promote sustainable development, protect historical legacy, conserve nature, mitigate pollution, propagate afforestation, generate awareness, popularize cleanliness for realizing a sustainable “Green Sivasagar”. Mission Green Sivasagar aims to provide leadership which works as a guiding force in the social life of Sivasagar in terms of - Promotion and protection of ecology Generation of high level of awareness on importance of greenery Flora & fauna conservation Ecological protection Anti-pollution measures Cleanliness and protection & maintenance of historical sites. The Mission will use the diverse resources and energies of its volunteers to provide effective support in promotion and furtherance of its mission and vision. Guiding Principles : The main objective of “Mission Green Sivasagar” is voluntary service – in the community, workplace and in and around the district Sivasagar to promote and protect ecology and generate high level of awareness on the importance of greenery, flora conservation, ecological protection and anti-pollution measures. This Mission is open to all residents of Sivasagar of all cultures and ethnicities and is not affiliated to any political or religious organization. It is primarily VOLUNTARY in nature and an effort to arouse VOLUNTARISM in nature’s protection and various other activities. Core values Mission Green Sivasagar's core values represent the guiding principles of the Mission, which drive the intent and give direction to the programmes. a) Voluntary Service Implementation of programmes/activities through voluntary service will usher in greater understanding about the importance of nature amongst us and a sense of deep belongingness. Voluntary Service is a major element of our mission. Through the plans and actions, we aim at creating a culture of service throughout all strata of our society as the same provides unparalleled satisfaction for those who serve. b) Diversity The Mission will unify all people behind the ideal of service. Participation of people from diverse vocations, men-women and all others are highly encouraged irrespective of any ethnic and other identities. c) Integrity Transparency, commitment and accountability are three key words of the Mission, through which it is aimed to bring visible results by accomplishing set activities. Views from all will be solicited, interactions will be respected and available resources will be judiciously deployed for making a better Sivasagar. d) Leadership The Mission believes in the importance of leadership development and self-motivated leadership as a quality of all volunteers. e) Inclusiveness Mission Green Sivasagar is a meeting ground for different groups or individuals having different backgrounds like origin, age, race and ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation and identity for a cause to protect & promote ecology. It gives value to perspectives and contributions of all and incorporates the needs, assets, and perspectives of communities into its design and implementation. f) Teamwork In Mission Green Sivasagar, works will be done by several individual/agencies with each doing a part but all subordinating personal prominence to the efficiency of the whole. It is crucial value for this Mission as it is often necessary for partners to work well together, trying their best in any circumstance in order to achieve a goal. In this Mission, all will try to cooperate, using their individual skills and providing constructive feedback.
