Sanatan Dharma Sabha known as Harishabha was established in the year 1915 with the prime objective to strength the unity , peace and harmony , situated at the heart of Guwahati at Panbazar is on the threshold of completing 100 years of existence . To include the greater community of the society , Harisabha Trust consist of five life member , two from Assamese Communities , two from Bengali Communities and one from Marwari Comminities . The Sabha –Griha (Meeting Hall) and a temple was setup at a plot of land donated by Late Rajani Kanta Choudhury of Sarbhog under Barpeta District . Later , two adjacent plots were added to its premises . This institution continues to play a very important role in the social-cultural life of Guwahati . The first Girls school of Guwahati Town was setup in the name of Kumari Vidlaya in its premises and Balya Ashram where young boys were taught Upanashid and Vedanta.. During the Swadeshi Movement , the institution played an important role and several Swadeshi meeting were held at Harishabha . Harisabha traditionally observe different Pujas under Vedic system and important pujas like Jagadhatri , Durga Puja , Kali Puja Puja and thitis of Vaishnavite Saints –Srimanta Sankardeva and others. During Durga puja Jatras are regularly performed on all three days of Durga Puja . The Institution are set to celebrate its Centenary year starting from January 2014 .
