GNRC doctors conducted evening OPD at press club Guwahati: Baring few, most of the city based scribes have shownsatisfactory heart conditions when they attended the ‘Evening with aDoctor’ program at Guwahati Press Club (GPC) on 10 September 2016. DrRajib Das (Cardiology) and Dr Bikash Rai Das (Heart Surgeon) from GNRCGroup of hospitals conducted the evening OPD offering free medicalcheck-up & consultations to the participants.Some of them went through the electrocardiogram tests. The physicianswere assisted by health workers namely Sister Iva, Guna Kataky andMamoni Goswami from the prestigious healthcare institute of northeastIndia. Mrinal Ali Hazarika, public relation officer of GNRC Hospitalswas also present in the evening outpatient department program, wheremany close relatives of the scribes also participated.The first program of the weekly evening clinic series at GPC premiseswas launched on 20 August, where Dr Kashyap Kr Das (Medicine, DispurHospitals) provided necessary consultations on healthcare issues tothe member-journalists. The participants, including some seniorjournalists, took the opportunity to get their blood pressure & sugarchecked by the health workers.The second program was graced by two physicians from Down TownHospital namely Dr Swapnaav Barthakur (Medicine) & Dr Ruma Dutta (O&G) and the third one was attended by Dr Nitin Gupta (Urology), Dr JuriTalukdar (General Practitioner) and Dr Debanga Borah (Cardiology) fromWintrobe Hospital.The forthcoming GPC healthcare programs will be attended by thephysicians from Narayana Super Specialty Hospital, Apollo ChennaiHospital, Nemcare Hospital, Swagat Hospital etc. Though theinitiative was formulated primarily for the benefit of GPC members,said GPC Secretary Nava Thakuria, anyone related to the journalism andbased in other parts of the region is also encouraged to takeadvantage of the evening OPDs.
