Nowgong Mission High School, established by Dr. MilesBronson in 1846 is the third oldest government school in Assam. Dr. Bronsonchampioned the cause of education in Assam when Assam and Assamese language wasin grave threat. He was the light of education for the people of Assam and alsothe savior of the language. He was the main leader of the movement againstgovernment enforcing Bengali language as the official language in courts,school in Assam. It is tantamount to say that Rev. Miles Bronson saved ourAssamese language, heritage and culture. Assam Foundation of North America isrunning a campaign to preserve this legacy .
