*** I have known for some years now, and from people who live in Delhi, including half a dozen of my close friends, that Delhi IS a dangerous place. It was re-inforced by other news of recent years, and of course the comments in the ToI feedback pages to the diplomat's rape. The more urgent problem is that of law enforcement , of apprehensiuon, of able and effective prosecution, and TIMELY and prompt justice to serve as deterrence. Surely we have not heard of similar widespread occurences from Chennai, or Ahmedabad or Mumbai or even Kolkata.
