its rather sad - but I would advise (rather cold heartedly) NOT to become bankrupt in an attempt to save someone whose existence could be doubtful (I pray otherwise).

infact just the other day I had been wondering about the excessive cost of medication - someone told me that an injection costing Rs1,50,000/- or $3,000/- (my one year's pay) was  injected to an elderly cancer pateint - not just one but 6 of them - total cost Rs 30,00,000/- or $60,000/- -- a normal middle class family's entire life's savings.
The old man died anyway. Fortunately the money was paid by the insurance company. But what if there had been no insurance and the family had a choice - like the one above.

My choice would be clear.
Don't pay.
