Dear Malabika:
Thank you for enlightening us about Bodo language.
It is interesting.
I am sure there are books on Bodo labuage. at least
a disctionary on the phonetics or grammar. Do you know where to find
one?
How do you say 'Swmkhwr' and what is the meaning?

the mother of Konkani?
The Bodos have been using the letter "w" for a while writing in English
to express certain phonetic sounds that do not seem to have any similar sound
in Assamese. These are mostly phonetic wng (Nwng - You) or
wo (not similar to Assamese wo, I don't know how to write it
phonetically)
For example
English
Bodo
What are you
doing
Nwng ma khalamdwng ? (No-ong Ma Kha-Lam-Do-Ong)
What is your
name
Nwng ni nama ma ?
(No-ong Ni Naa-Maa Ma)
You are
welcome
Gwjwnthwng
(Gwo-jwon-Thwang)
A few examples of Bodo names with "w"
Swmkhwr

Chandan: That is very encouraging news it seems. No I have
not seen Sentinel. Anyway the use of W as Assamese WO-Kar has the
approval of none other than Dr Golok Ch Goswami, the present Guru of
Assamese language (you may say) in a letter to me couple of years
ago.
I am glad that Sentinel is also using this. Can you send me an
exanple of such word without me going to Sentinel
website.
Thanks Rajen
