It is the environment out here that deters performance. The capability to do well is there, but the prevailent work culture being what it is, and the general despondancy and vagabondism crowned by corruption has made merit a non-viable option out here. Ours is a society where Non performance is a creed, so most people who are bred in this environment do not not what performance is. I do not blame the youth, they have been conditioned by the culture and the envuironment. Why outside, Assamese youths and staff have done wonders in Oil industry IN ASSAM, where they were provided an environment and culture to excell. In the tea, oil industries of yesteryears, there were lots of Assamese who excelled under the conditions that were created by the British managers. well there can be some sporadic instances but I am sure that there is no paucity of good candidates in the region. Our youths have excelled in various fields globally and is definitely competitive enough .
