What a great analysis of what has gone on in our Assamese spociety the last two decades!
I remember well when with similar thoughts in my mind, I asked Kanak Sen Deka (chief guest) during the AANA GB meeting of the Orlando, Florida 1998 Assam Convention how an extortionist murderous bunch called the ULFA have such support from the Assamese populace. We have learnt our lessons I hope. Let us mend our ways and get on with the people's work. The political parties are to mend their ways too and should take the lead in public condemnation of ULFA at this time instead of being wishy washy. They should support and pressure GOI to take up the difficult job of eliminating the ULFA terrorists with international diplomacy and help of local, national and international intelligence organizations. We know, the work ahead is going to be tough. But for the good of the Assamese people and the NE and of the Republic of India and the world community, this must be done.
