It used to be a rip off for > traveller. this is good indeed but what about the rest of the city and other parts of Assam. does the minister's writ run only in the Paltan Bazar/Rly Station area? this is an issue which requires mobilization by peope living in Guwahati who are affected by it instead of being a topic just for discussion. it would be wonderful if those affected and on this group decided to form an active group that will mobilize people against these usurious rates. the best thing is to fix a time and place to meet and take it forward from there, which will move it beyond complaints to action. i am sure it will attract media attention and then put pressure on the police, politicians and the government. that's the way it works,it seems to me.
