Deadline for CNES media fellowship extended

New Delhi, March 30 -- The deadline for receipt of applications for the Third 
CNES-Setu National Media Fellowship for print media professionals who wish to 
study issues related to the North-east been extended to 15 April 2007. The 
winner will be announ ced on May 1, 2007.

The fellowship carries an award of Rs. 75,000/- and is open to journalists from 
other parts of the country with an interest in the region, said Sanjoy 
Hazarika, the managing trustee of the Centre for North East Studies and Policy 
Research which runs the program. 

Applicants for this year's award would need to pick a topic from the following: 
the impact of conflict on women; the impact of mining on society and the 
environment; the media under pressure in the North-east and the region's 
experience with special draconian laws.
