I am taking the liberty to pick a few paragraphs from wikipedia on the definition of ILP and PAP. I would seek the wisdom and collective thoughts from our Oxomiya intelligentia to ideate contructively and come to some meaningful conclusion on adoption of ILP and PAP in Assam to protect ourselves from aliens from Pakistan and Bangladesh. Would like to make this apolitical and a straight from the gut candid discussion thread. The core purpose of this discussion will be to conclude whether the current construct and legal statutes are sufficient, if implemented, to give us the necessary protection from being shunted out of our own homeland or do we need more.
Inner Line Permit and Protected Area Permit The Foreigners (Protected Areas) Order states that a Protected Area Permit (PAP) is required for non-Indians to visit certain areas in India (mainly in the North-East <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North-East_India> ). Certain requirements have to be fulfilled in order to get this permit. Indian citizens, who are not resident in these areas need a Inner Line Permit <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inner_Line_Permit> (ILP) to enter these places. Requirements * Tourists have to travel in groups of at least 4 * They have to travel with a registered travel agent * In some areas only certain entry/exit points are allowed. In certain areas non-Indians cannot enter at all * Citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh, China and Myanmar can get the PAP only with approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs Normally the PAP has a duration of 10 days, with the option of extending for another 7 days. The PAP is issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. However, the different authorities of the concerned Indian provinces can also issue the PAP, and also the Indian missions abroad. Normally the travel agent will take care of getting the PAP for the tourists. Areas for which a PAP is required * Parts of Jammu and Kashmir <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jammu_and_Kashmir> * Parts of Himachal Pradesh <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Himachal_Pradesh> * Parts of Uttar Pradesh <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uttar_Pradesh> * All of Arunachal Pradesh <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arunachal_Pradesh> * All of Nagaland <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nagaland> * All of Manipur <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manipur> * All of Mizoram <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mizoram> Areas for which the PAP Requirement was lifted * Assam <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assam> * Meghalaya <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meghalaya> * Tripura <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tripura> * Sikkim <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sikkim>
