Not having run VM for the last couple of decades, and never having
run VSE, that sounds reasonable, except for the fact that the
ISPF Users Guide, Vol II, Appendix A, which describes SuperC,
has a table of process statements,
with these notes:
a.. Not supported on CMS.
a.. Supported only on VSE.
a.. Supported only on CMS.

That led me to believe that SuperC was available on those platforms.

ASMFSUPC

....wonder why IBM
is supporting two flavors of the same program, with the expense of keeping
documentation and code changes in sync?

Wild Guess: to bring a very usefull program to the other platforms
HLASM runs on- such as z/VSE and z/VM - which do not have SUPERC or
ISPF.
