Wrong. Several human factors studies have shown mixed
case to be more readable. (Exception, to my mind, there
are some characters, in some fonts, where visual confusion
can arise (e.g.: lower case 'el' versus number 'one')).
I would distrust any such study. How did the experimenters
find a control group free experiential bias. But perhaps
a description of the protocol would allay my discomfort.
I'm out of town this week, and my references are all
hard copy (how quaint, eh?). I'll try and remember to
look around when I get back in the office.
Mixed case is not crapola, nor is it 'PC'. I write all
my code in mixed case these days, even REXX and CLIST
can be mixed case.
Many years ago, I used "end" (sic) in a CLIST. This resulted
in the error message, "UNRECOGNIZED COMMAND 'END'" (sic, but
not verbatim). Go figger. An error message should never so
obfuscate the essence of the problem being reported.
Perhaps CLIST nowadays is better. I'm scarcely motivated
to repeat the experiment -- to do so I'd be compelled to
write a CLIST.
Well, CLIST is better than it used to be, but
still somewhat problematic in my [not too recent]
experience.
