I suspected that this discussion could easily get out of hand when I first contributed to it. Making parameters modifiable, other than read-only, would destroy the integrity of the HLASM as we know it; and any such facility would have to be very carefully isolated.
Moreover, I am not sure it is needed. I can think of other resolutions of Mr Bodoh's problem. All of them, however, are 'complicated', macro-language intensive ones; and I suspect that he would for this reason find them uncongenial. John Gilmore, Ashland, MA 01721 - USA
