Don't show us ONLY the mnemonics for the instructions. Show us the OBJECT CODE
that is produced by the Assembler and is in approximately the leftmost 10
columns of each output printed line of the Assembler.
You still haven't told us either what is in general purpose R14 or what is
supposed to be in general purpose R14. Your original post shows an ASTERISK in
column one and the LARL instruction is 50 or 60 columns to the right, which
means that the LARL is not assembled, since it is treated as a comment
statement by the * in column 1. Maybe you made a text editing error when you
copied code from somewhere A to somewhere else B. I cannot tell anything from
the mnemonics only part of code.
The MVC into some virtual storage address within R14 may very well be
overlaying the text you are expecting to see, but we cannot tell what is in R14
from your example.
Put a DC H'0' immediately in front of the ABEND statement and then display for
us what the dump shows in all the pertinent general purpose registers at entry
to ABEND.
