This likely sounds really stupid, but when I am in AR mode, and I do an LARL, does that instruction set the corresponding AR register as well as the specified GPR? I looked at the LARL instruction in the -9 PoPS manual. It doesn't say, but refers to other instruction such as Branch And Save Relative Long. But none of those mention the associated AR either. -- While a transcendent vocabulary is laudable, one must be eternally careful so that the calculated objective of communication does not become ensconced in obscurity.
