I have found that knowing ASM on 360, it was easy to learn ASM on S/34 & 
7094.  I did patches on machines by other manufacturers.  All one needs is 
the equivalent of PoOp.  And in some cases an octal conversion table.

I think of ASM as a paradigm (or dare I say meme) that can be implemented 
on any architecture.  HLASM just has the best macro 
processor/infrastructure.
