Kirk, I was sorely tempted over the last few days to dig out this gem and post it. It's very instructive to read the HLASM code generated by the compilers when optimization is in effect. Attempting to achieve the same level of pipeline and cache friendliness, etc., when hand-writing HLASM is a big chore and a definite impediment to programmer productivity.
