Thanks for the note. I forgot that some of you were on this list ;-)
One difference in our approaches is that we do all the work on the
client, and none on the central system. If I read the wiki correctly,
this is a polling approach from the central server.
Although the Assimilation system could be considered to poll, all that
polling is delegated to the far endpoint - in this case, the Windows
machine. I believe that this is stated in the web site and my blog, but
it might not be completely clear. The paper I'm writing for LISA makes
this really clear - providing they accept it for the conference ;-).
So, although this looks like good work, but I don't think it would fit
into our architecture. There appear to be a number of plugins for
Nagios that do similar things.
I suppose we could use it as part of a test tool - once we get far
enough along for that ;-).
[I think there's a typo in the wiki page:
The summary and any errors are written to stderr, so redirect
/stdin/ to /dev/null if you want terse output.
you probably meant to say /stderr/ instead of /stdin/].
