Heh... welcome to planet earth <g> - btw, such a thing (ovverrinding
the DNS TTL is a *BAD* habit, but unluckily some DNS admins set
up things that way not realizing that the DNS TTL is there for a reason
and HAS to be respected ... oh well)

Whatever OS you're running it won't take you too much; either BIND
or the Win DNS will just go up fine and by default work as recursive
resolvers w/o any forwarder (just using root-hints) then btw you may
play some tricks, like setting up conditional forwarding for "certain
zones" ... but that may come at a later time :)
