Yes. I'm doing this. Having the notspam, spam and error directories on remote shares works very well, atleast under linux and I guess it would be similar on windows. But I'm doing it the other way around and rebuilding occurs with local files. Then the box running ASSP (and no rebuilding) runs perfectly fine with 256MB of memory.
