Well first off thats a very old beta.
I would at least upgrade to 1.2.4 if not 1.2.5.

Secondly are you running ASSP under it's own account?
If so are you trying to rebuild the spamdb as a different user?
Does that different user have full rights to the ASSP files?


As for that spam directory....

Under "Other Settings" what are "Max Files" & "Max Bytes" set to?

Under 'SPAM Control" is "UseSubjectsAsMaillogNames" enabled?
If so disable it. That setting is for use only in testing. If enabled it 
prevents ASSP from being able to correctly manage the amount of files 
saved in the corpus.


Could you please let me know what OS you are running on as this will 
determine what commands you should run to delete some of those corpus 
files before trying to rebuild the spamdb again.
