Had the exact same problem, set the SMTP Idle Timeout (under Network Setup)
to some value (I use 300 secs) this will terminate any connection that is
idle for the stated length of time.
HTH.

Subject: [Assp-user] SMTP Sessions Stalling
After setting up and testing ASSP for the past three weeks I finally went
"live". Everything seemed to go well, email was being sent and received.
The next day I noticed no email was being delivered. I checked the SMTP
connections, and the maximum allowed connections were there. The Duration
and Inactive times were updating, but no email was being delivered.
I stopped ASSP and restarted it and the same thing happened. It worked for a
few hours and then the SMTP sessions were filling up with no email moving
out.
Can someone suggest what I can look into to fix this?
Thanks.
