Hello from my simple point of view Fritz is doing a great/fantastic work and he should continue in this way.
Regarding the code I have only 1 suggestion ; currently assp.pl contains also the code to open the web interface . Why don't you separe code required to create the web interface with the code required to check email ? instead of a single assp.pl assp.pl and assp.pl (all the code to check email) and web.pl (all the code for the web interface) web.pl should be loaded only when needed/called.
