I suddenly remembered one thing, maybe it's important, maybe not.
When I built my previous spam filter (also based on debian) the tutorial
did imply that having UTF-8 as the default system locale would have bad,
and would have caused problems to amavisd-new and other things.
Since the box on which ASSP is running does have UTF-8 as its default
locale, I'd like to know if it could be the cause of all my problems
(attachment & perl 100% CPU).

P.S: I have tried to put 1.3.3.7 in place of 1.3.3.8 but it keeps slowing
down to a crawl and then stops working too.
