Hi Charles,
Time keeping inside a virtual machine can be more challenging than in the 
physical world, atleast if you don't know how to deal with it. People are 
generally having timing problems if you have a cpu with variable cpu speed (on 
the hosted products (VMware Workstation, Player & Server)) or is using a 1000Hz 
smp linux kernel inside the virtual machine. For windows guests there is also a 
similar effect if you're providing streaming services that installs a 
multimedia timer. Normal windows HALs are however using a 100Hz timer.

The most common solution is to sync the clock with the pit and use vmware tools 
as per the timekeeping doc refered above.

For a more accurate clock you can also use the descheduled time service:

Curious...

Do you not have trouble keeping your VMs time synced? I haven't used
VMWare, but have heard this is one of the big problems with the free
versions...
