For anyone who might have been curious, it looks like this was actually a
problem on my Domino server. I had Domino configured to verify the DNS on
incoming e-mail messages, and for some reason that got screwed up, so
Domino's SMTP server has holding connections open when stuff was coming in
from Mailhop, then eventually timing out and returning a 451 error to
mailhop. They would then hang onto the mail, and retry it again later,
apparently, so it just built up and turned into a big problem. I turned
off the DNS verification in Domino, and things seem to be returning to
normal now.
