I understand ASSP 2.0 may require a bit more resources than 1.3.1. But I am using 1.3.1 successfully on a home Debian Linux server with a 1 gHz G4 and 1 GB of memory. The same box also serves as an MTA, mailstore, webserver and has bind9 running, plus I frequently do desktop work on it. Of course it's not a good idea to run all that on one box. But I am energy conscious, my single "always on" G4 uses little energy and isn't noisy either. Just to say, you normally don't need a powerful machine for such things. Especially if you use it as a home server. Then I would go for low noise and low energy consumption first and foremost.
