I would only clarify point c, where you want to make sure you overwrite existing files, but leave ASSP created files in place.
You are going from a very old version, so you may want to manually compare file, to makes sure everything is ok, as 1.4 may have new files that 1.2 did not, and you want to make sure to get those copied over as well.
