I could not agree more.  Though one thing I often forget about, is  
that you can in most cases, RSS sub to a forum, and even to an  
individual post.  I use a RSS to email tool written in perl I think,  
that more or less, transforms all my feeds into email. Or some email  
clients can do this now.

I still have to go to the forum to post and interact, but at least I  
do not lose the notification in the noise.

I think the main issue with ASSP is just the fragmentation.  It is  
getting to the point where as a user, you may be better off going to  
the dev mailing list.  If the dev mailing list becomes polluted as a  
result, it is a clear indicator that people are not liking the idea of  
the forums.

I think I may take it on myself to write a small script that polls the  
forums for new items via RSS, and then reposts them to this mailing  
list.  Maybe that would help, thoughts?
