I could not agree more. Though one thing I often forget about, is that you can in most cases, RSS sub to a forum, and even to an individual post. I use a RSS to email tool written in perl I think, that more or less, transforms all my feeds into email. Or some email clients can do this now. I still have to go to the forum to post and interact, but at least I do not lose the notification in the noise. > So whenever a mailinglist decides to move to a forum I stay behind, > declining to great fame, fortune and health a forum may bring. ;-) I think the main issue with ASSP is just the fragmentation. It is getting to the point where as a user, you may be better off going to the dev mailing list. If the dev mailing list becomes polluted as a result, it is a clear indicator that people are not liking the idea of the forums. > Whilst this is an open source product and its developers and > maintainers > are free to do what they want I do find it somewhat unfortunate they > decided to abandon an otherwise perfectly useful and helpful way of > communicating with a user base. It leaves a sour after taste I think I may take it on myself to write a small script that polls the forums for new items via RSS, and then reposts them to this mailing list.
