Correct. At least, that is how I set up MTA's for myself, or clients. > Comcast refuses to let us do so. > If we try, they force us to use smtp.comcast.net as a outbound relay. > and in our case ASSP stands in front of the MTA (for auto- > whitelisting), a > nice feature. What is the error message in the logs that comcast is kicking back? That would probably help in pinning this one down. > Also Comcast limits the number and size of outbound mesages to 20mb. > most > CAD or PDF files > are bigger, esp when expanded into mime... And that will be a problem if you use them as a SMTP smart host. If you can avoid that, then you should be able to get around that issue, and only have issues if you are sending email to an @comacast.net address. Curious, what happens if you telnet to comcast's port 25, and initiate a telnet based sending of email to them, what is the error message they kick back, unless you have the old one from your logs. So far, my guess is you just need to get the spelling issue solves. Right now, email from your machine hits then, they do a rDNS lookup on it, follow it to an A record, find there is no A record, so they reject, with the idea being that, if there is no A record, why bother talking to the server at all, they see it as not even there. -- Scott * If you contact me off list replace talklists@ with scott@ * ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Assp-user mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/assp-user
