And that's why I'm reporting the issue. Although, we were running ASSP
without recipient validation for a while and it was working quite nicely,
averaging around 6% total processor load on the box it's running on. Since
enabling recipient validation though, I'm noticing that a greater percentage
of the spams are targeting correct email addresses. This means that more
spam that manages to make it through, like the spam we're seeing which takes
advantage of a bit of a hole left by ASSP's handling of sender address
domains without SPF records - is now more likely to make it through to an
actual user's mailbox.
This is Spam 101 folks, never leak out information as to which email
addresses are valid and which are not. In our case, it's worth having an
average of 94% processor idle time instead of 99%.

Don't be stupid.
Failure to perform recipient validation is dumb, and only increases the
load on your own servers, at ZERO - repeat, ZERO benefit.
