We don't have any where near that number of accounts, around 300. It's working fine for us. Our ASSP machine is a virtual machine running under our blade server. It's simple to increase it's resources if necessary. Our VM is currently a dual-core with 4GB memory. It does periodically swap. You'll need to spec your ASSP machine accordingly. Somebody else will need to chime in on an install that large.
