That's great; I'm glad to have been some help, Glenn! For what it's worth, since those patches were sent, I've found they also seem to work unchanged on FreeBSD 10.0 (amd64) as well, where they've switched from gcc to clang as the default system compiler. clang certainly is a whiny compiler :-) but despite all the warnings, everything did build and seems to be running.
