ast-base and ast-open are two separate public packages
from www.research.att.com/sw/download/

 ast-base - ksh, ksh builtin commands, pax, nmake, tw, sfio, and ast libraries
 ast-open - ksh, pax, nmake, sfio, and ast open source commands and libraries

ast-open covers ast-base and includes the "ast open source commands and 
libraries"
meaning a large part of man section (1) commands and the ast-specific libraries
that support those commands
