source packages are binary independent
this means that the same source package should build on all systems
source package names match
*.YYYY-MM-DD.tgz
binary package names match
*.YYYY-MM-DD.*.tgz
if you are building from source make sure to download source packages
finally, to build from source you need working cc/ar/ld
