If all you're looking for is how to solve the boldness syntax just
inspect the output from the command
getopts --usage
and compare it with getopts --man to see where the boldness
appears and how they are embedded in the usage string. The
whole usage string would be embedded in $'...' (substitute ... by
the actual usage string).
