Pros of Remwave:

a) Source code is available

It's our policy to offer source code on request to Enswitch carrier edition customers. We appreciate that many enterprise customers cannot be without source code to a core component of their business.

b) Based on Oracle as backend, which can help you scale up.

This does of course greatly reduce the cost benefit of Remwave compared with Enswitch. If database scalability is an issue we have experience in running MySQL in production on Sun and IBM pSeries hardware.

Cons of Remwave:
---------------

a) At the moment only Remwave guys know how to get the packages installed on a fresh server instead of using VMWARE Image. b) Individual packages of required components are not available for download, and almost zero documentation.

In both the above cases, I think remwave guys might be willing to provide you with all the support still that wont cost you as much as Enswitch.

Similar solution can be built otherwise using OpenSER + Asterisk combination.

Of course, after all we did it. However, this will definitely be the most expensive option unless you use only a very small fraction of Enswitch's (and probably Remwave's) features. Before we had Enswitch, we did custom solutions for customers, and Enswitch allows us to offer many more features at a lower price, with a very much faster time to market. We're very flexible and open to feature requests (as our reference customers will attest), so I doubt a custom solution will be more flexible either.
