There is many factors, such as: is calls will be proxied (canreinvite) at asterisk is calls will be (if need) transcoded between codecs and protocols is that only calls or you use ivr, queues, play music on hold is you terminate calls to E1/T1/FXO ports (asterisk act as gateway)
