I got free service from FWD for my sip accounts and talk for free. This is the first instance where it got my stake. (Skype is Next).
I bought a crappy X100P from digium for $150, which made me to hate digium in the first instance. (I also bought $6.50 worth X100P from ebay, that worked much better than $150). After that I never bought even a single hardware from them. I personally donate by finding the asterisk developers who dedicate their time in developing the asterisk code and on support. Second, You can see more manufacturers coming up with the hardware for asterisk. I found them much better (Sangoma Cards etc., ) than the digium one. The Digium par quality cards in the market are much cheaper than what is supplied by digium. Asterisk has grown much stronger not just due to Mark Spencer, but due to much asterisk community and developers inside developing asterisk for no returns. ( See Disclamier Policy). I have seen FWD grown due to Jeff Pulver and bringing most of the voip providers, serices to a single stand for the world to watch and see. Digium or asterisk is just part of the game. Last but not the least, you can see the list of RFC's created by pulver.com for voip. The peanuts from Jeff for voip standard. There may be many. These are the things I just noted and my opinions. I've always wondered... what exactly did Jeff Pulver do to be awarded this God-like status in the tech media? Don't get me wrong, I don't know him, or anything about him other than what I read online in the media... and I don't have any personal problem with him. But I constantly see him quoted as the "end-all-be-all voip expert" that the reporters seem to bow down to and kiss his feet. I know he's been in the industry for a long time, and he has done some important stuff (like FWD), but what did he do to earn such praise and high regard over everyone else? Personally, I think Mark Spencer has done far more good for the advancement of VOIP and telephony projects by small companies than Jeff Pulver or anyone else for that matter, yet he gets maybe a fraction of the attention and admiration that Jeff does. What exactly am I missing here? It's not meant as a negative, just a "trying to understand". -- Nick On Wed, 23 May 2007, Dean Collins wrote: > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Personally I don't think you have really tried all that hard - they've > always been very responsive to my needs and I think they are a super > company for the voip industry. > > > > Regards, > > Dean Collins > Cognation Pty Ltd > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > +1-212-203-4357 Ph > > > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:asterisk-biz- > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Mike Hammett > > Sent: Wednesday, 23 May 2007 5:27 PM > > To: 'Commercial and Business-Oriented Asterisk Discussion' > > Subject: RE: [asterisk-biz] PulverMedia > > > > Where to? > > > > > > ----- > > Mike Hammett > > Intelligent Computing Solutions > > http://www.ics-il.com > > > > > > > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Steve > Totaro > > Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2007 4:22 PM > > To: Commercial and Business-Oriented Asterisk Discussion > > Subject: RE: [asterisk-biz] PulverMedia > > > > Send an email to Jeff. > > > > Thanks, > > Steve Totaro > > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > > > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:asterisk-biz- > > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Mike Hammett > > > Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2007 5:13 PM > > > To: 'Commercial and Business-Oriented Asterisk Discussion' > > > Subject: RE: [asterisk-biz] PulverMedia > > > > > > If this crap continues, Pulver won't see a dime from me. > > > > > > > > > ----- > > > Mike Hammett > > > Intelligent Computing Solutions > > > http://www.ics-il.com > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > > > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Michael > > Iedema > > > Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2007 4:08 PM > > > To: Commercial and Business-Oriented Asterisk Discussion > > > Subject: Re: [asterisk-biz] PulverMedia > > > > > > > doesn't get me anywhere.
