I don't think any of this is really needed. Enabling ICE support in sip.conf or pjsip.conf and configuring a STUN server should be enough for what you are trying to do. With ICE support asterisk will fill the SIP request with alternative IPs it found out using STUN and the external IP will also be there for the other communication end to try to connect to.
