I build on SUSE 9.3 all the time, it's my favorite distro :-)
Be sure you have read README.SuSE in the kernel sources directory; it
outlines the steps you must take to prepare the kernel sources for
building external modules. Hint: you have to do more than just install
the kernel-sources package.
