Matt,

I guess I'm basing my opinion on what I've seen on dice, monster, craigslist
etc. Not much is showing up. Lots of googling hasn't found much either. At this
point, I guess I'm just trying to work out if it's worth it continuing to find
gainful employment involving Asterisk, getting more frustrated with that fact
everyone (again, dice, monster etc) seems to be implementing Cisco solutions,
or to give up and go back and do something else I've done before... which is
far less interesting.

I've been working for a CLEC for about a year now, and I've had to basically
implement the whole darn thing myself. Everything from configuring phones to
writing dial plan apps, to systems, networking, implementing more features than
I can poke a stick at (sometimes I wonder if we bit off more than we can chew).
I'm not sure if I'm going to find such a varied gig somewhere else.
Implementing Asterisk for a carrier has to be more interesting than
implementing it for Widgets Inc's internal phone system.

Doug.

Any company. There is no typical company in my experience. I have
worked with non-profits, political campaigns, magazine publishers,
telemarketing call center companies, medical supplies companies and
logistics companies just to name a few.

They all installed Asterisk to have a non-expensive open phone system
that they could control and manage internally. They range in size from
just a few phones to over 300 across multiple locations.

I believe Digium even has a list of a few case studies, including some
government entities that are using Asterisk.
