Okokok. I've contributed a patch so you can configure any mailer for vm, but with the recent changes in voicemail.c it's out of date. I'll update this and you can help me try it out if it works for you. If so, add comments in bugs.digium.com.
Give me a day or two to fix this, then download from bugs.digium.com. With that patch, you can configure ssmtp, postfix or anything to send the mail.
