Yes, and no. There's a new-er application called ConfBridge() which will let you attempt to do conferencing without depending on a kernel-based timer. I think you need to jump to the 1.6.2 tree to get the application, and there isn't much documentation in the world yet. I attempted to write some up at: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+cmd+ConfBridge If somebody knows more about ConfBridge() than I do, please feel free to update the wiki on voip-info.
